Doctrines

Election, atonement, justification, regeneration, perseverance—read first in the verses, then in Arminian and Reformed notes side by side.

Also: Attributes of God · Bible · Isaiah · Psalms · Hebrews

ElectionBefore the foundation of the world, God chose a people in Christ to be holy and blameless—both camps read that choosing as grace, and they part over whether it is conditional on foreseen faith.
AtonementChrist died as a sacrifice for sin—both camps preach a cross of infinite worth; they part over whether the Father intended that death for every person or for the elect in particular.
JustificationGod counts the believer righteous for Christ’s sake—both camps preach pardon and acceptance by grace through faith; they part over how faith relates to election, and whether the justified can fall from that standing.
RegenerationThe Spirit makes the dead alive in Christ—both camps preach a new birth, not mere turning over a new leaf; they part over whether that birth can be resisted, and whether it precedes faith or is given with it.
PerseveranceThose in Christ are called to abide, and God is faithful—both camps take the warnings and the promises seriously; they part over whether a true believer can finally fall away.
